Trauma therapy and inner child healing

“Trauma is not what happens to you, it’s what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you”

Inner Child Wounds & Healing

Signs You May Have an Inner Child Wound

  • You’re highly independent… but exhausted.
  • You feel ashamed for having needs or emotions.
  • You people-please, over-give or struggle to say no.
  • You have a loud inner critic or constant fear of failure.
  • You feel not good enough, no matter how much you do.
  • You find yourself in the same painful relationship patterns.
  • You crave connection but fear being vulnerable or rejected.
  • You shut down, numb out or go into freeze mode under stress.

If any of these hit home, you’re not alone and they’re not character flaws. They’re signs of an inner child wound, emotional injuries carried from early life that still shape your present life as an adult.

What is an Inner Child Wound?

Your inner child is the part of you that holds your earliest emotional experiences, your joy, your wonder but also your unmet needs and pain. When as a child, your emotional needs weren’t met with consistency, safety or love (even in subtle ways), you may have developed coping strategies to survive like perfectionism, emotional numbing, hyper-independence or constantly seeking approval.

These patterns made sense back then. But now, they can keep you feeling stuck, anxious, disconnected or burnt out.

How I help with inner child healing

As a Therapist who truly understands the pain of her own inner child wounds, sessions with me shall offer a body-aware, evidence-based approach to healing the trauma grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.

You won’t be asked to retell your whole story or share anything that doesn’t feel right.

Together, we’ll create a felt sense of safety, from the inside out. We’ll meet the parts of you that carry pain, fear, guilt or shame, while also honouring the protective parts that have helped you survive.

Healing from trauma and inter-generational trauma – isn’t about “getting over it.”

It’s about making space for the younger parts of you that still need love and building new inner pathways for healing, emotional freedom and self-trust.

Over a course of therapy and healing you shall find greater capacity for choice, connection and calm—not just within yourself but in how you relate to the world around you. Because when we start to feel safe inside, the outside world begins to feel more manageable too.

“Don’t turn away. Keep your gaze on the bandaged place. That is where the light enters you.”

— Rumi
