Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy can bring up lots of questions and that’s completely okay. I’ve answered some of the most common ones below to help you feel more informed and at ease.

The first session is a gentle starting point. We’ll take time to explore what’s bringing you to therapy, share my approach of working with clients, assess your current needs and hopes from working together with me. You’re welcome to show up just as you are, there’s no ‘right’ way. Just your way.

Goodness of fit is unique to every individual. Many understand if I’m a good fit for them in the first few sessions itself. Some of the ways to assess that are – how safe you feel in my presence, are you welcomed as is, your ability to open up and freely share your concerns and feel understood are some of the many ways to know if we feel like a good fit. Scheduling the first consultation is a starting point and an opportunity for you to connect with me and for us to see whether my therapeutic approach aligns with your needs.

Yes. Everything shared in therapy is confidential. The only exceptions are if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or if I am legally required to share information (e.g., in cases involving child protection or court orders). This will be explained in detail during your first session.

Healing happens in relationship and through consistency.
Meeting weekly allows us to build trust, maintain therapeutic momentum and gently work with patterns as they arise, rather than feeling like we’re starting again each session. For many clients, a regular rhythm creates the safety needed for deeper healing and lasting change.

Just as physical rehabilitation benefits from regular practice, psychological healing is supported by repeated, steady engagement. A consistent therapy rhythm helps us notice patterns as they emerge, strengthen new ways of relating to yourself and others and build on each session rather than revisiting the same starting point.
Many clients tell me that having a reserved weekly space becomes an anchor in their week—a place where they can pause, reflect and reconnect with themselves amidst the demands of everyday life.

Therapy is unique to each person. Some people come for a few sessions to work through something specific, while others engage in long-term therapy to support deeper healing and transformation. We’ll discuss this together and revisit your goals as we go.

That’s ok. You are welcome to choose the Stepping Stones or River Rocks Therapy options to get started and dip your toes at a pace that aligns your needs.

Life happens, and where possible I will always try to accommodate unforeseen circumstances i.e. emergencies. As your therapy space is reserved exclusively for you, sessions are intended to be attended within the agreed weekly rhythm and are not designed to be carried forward. Clear expectations around scheduling are discussed before we begin so that the therapeutic process remains consistent and supportive for both of us.

We all make travel plans now and then. As your therapy space is reserved exclusively for you, sessions are intended to be attended within the agreed weekly rhythm and are not designed to be carried forward. Clients often find it comforting to have their allotted time held for them when back from holiday.

I offer 2 sessions to 18–25 year old adults via Gumboot Friday.

Alternatively I offer EAP counselling sessions via Clearhead.
